School Days

 Cinderella started second grade today.  Sleeping Beauty starts Pre K next Tuesday.  They are getting so big so fast.

Cindy Lou Who

Friday is Dr. Seuss' birthday and Cinderella's class celebrated it early.  The above is a picture taken before school.  They were to dress up and I found out the night before.  The teacher said not to g out and buy anything and I didn't feel like a big ordeal.  Anyway, I pulled her hair up and put some pipe cleaners in her hair and she was transformed into Cindy Lou Who from "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas."  She was so cute and everyone knew who she was supposed to be!  Cute and free is a great combination for me!  ;)

Thankful Sprite?

Little Sleeping Beauty goes to a preschool and she had her Thanksgiving Feast last Friday.  She brought home her "Tree of Thanks."  See below:

Me: You aren't thankful for your big sister?
Sleeping Beauty:  I am but I didn't want to tell anyone I am!!

Here Comes the Bride...

...All dressed in white.


Sleeping Beauty's preschool did a little "candy walk" on Thursday.  She went as a bride.  Her Nanny Deb made this for her last Christmas.  Getting this dress has MADE HER LIFE.  Anyway, she couldn't wear the costume she is wearing for this Halloween because it is deemed "scary."  :)


Anyway, this is the child who has already designed her engagement ring and her wedding cake.  Fun fact:  The wedding cake will have real diamonds on it.  ?!  

She made a gorgeous bride!  It is modeled off of my bridal gown.  :)

I am planning to use some of these pictures and some other pictures I have taken of her in this dress on her actual wedding day.  Wouldn't it be precious to place these photos by her bridal portrait?!

These pictures are a bit haphazard and not the best I can do - but it was after school and the candy walk and she wanted lunch!   I know my girl well enough to know when she is done and she was about done in these pictures.  ;)  Getting her in her car seat after school with this on was a nightmare!  Thank goodness the bustle was removable.  :)

First Day of Preschool

Sleeping Beauty started what we call "Pre Pre K" yesterday.  She loved it and she loved her teachers!  She didn't want to leave the school and couldn't wait to go back this morning.  I'd say that is a success!

She posed all on her own.  She had to wear her tippo* dress.  She suited up in her Disney Princess backpack and could not wait to get to the school, see her teachers and make new friends!

 She took off running when we got there.  She was so excited.

 I know her head is cut off in this picture but I love it.  She was so happy she was jumping up and down with glee once in her classroom!

Here she is doing a pig puppet show.  She was really into it -  as you will see in the next picture.

"Hoink, hoink!"  (Not oink, oink.  Haha)  Her face is cracking me up here.

She had a great first day and a great day today and she goes again tomorrow.  She goes a few hours three days a week.  Thank you SO MUCH to Nana and Pa who are sending her!  This school is amazing and I believe it helped Cinderella really take off fast in Kindergarten last year.   By the end of the school year she was a TOP 10 reader in ALL of Kindergarten at her school.

First Day of First Grade

 Cinderella has started first grade and Sleeping Beauty will start Preschool next week.  We have been busy here in the House of Crazies!  More to come when I have a moment to think straight.

"The Chart"

In Cinderella's class they have "The Chart."  She made us one for our home.  She, her sister and the dog all have clothes pins to go on the chart.

Essentially, it is a behavior chart.  In her words:  "Green means caution.  Yellow means slow down.  Red means you're done (no treat at the end of the day), chalkboard means you lose everything (recess and center time).  Here, we have it on the wall in the living room.  So the ledge is the chalkboard.   The chart starts over each day and everyone starts off on "home" again which is the black area on the bottom right corner.

The chart itself isn't all that funny aside from the fact that she made it and hung it up herself the other day.  What is funny is the fact that yesterday, Cinderella tattled on her little sister (which we do not like) and wanted to move Sleeping Beauty's clothes pin.  I said, "Cinderella..."

She stopped and then she said, "And I'll move mine too for tattling!"  HAHAHA

We might be on to something here...

Cinderella has started trying not to tattle by starting off the sentence, "Well, the thing is...."  And makes us drag it out of her.  She has been known to tattle on herself too!!

Today the poor dog "barked herself all the way to the top of the ledge" in a matter of minutes.  Cinderella's words, not mine.

If I Had $100

On the 28th Cinderella brought home a piece of paper from school.  It said, "If I had $100..."  


This what I read:


If I had $100...


"I would buy a dog."


"I would buy a hose."  (horse)


"I would buy a lollipop."


I love how a dog, a horse and a lollipop are relatively the same price and thought of at the same time.  


Only a Kindergartner.  :o)

Thoughts on the Way to School...

I see a lot of things on the ride to and from school these days.  Sleeping Beauty and I take Cinderella in the morning and usually come back home and do a few things around the house before we set out about our day. Then in the afternoon we head back out to the school to get her.


I see a lot of surprising and interesting behavior on my drives to and from school.  I often see parents in their pajamas.  Now, don't think, "Oh, it's just the drop off line.  They are not getting out."  They sometimes get out.  I have seen parents in the school in their pajamas. Horror of horrors!  ;o)


The drop off and pick up line seems to be a "hot button" topic among many moms I know.  Thankfully I have not witnessed the "Pick Up/Drop off Line" drama that can bring out the very worst in parents.  I have heard about parents driving like maniacs, being careless when children are around, cutting in front of someone else in the line, (That sounded juvenile even to me) yelling and being bad examples.  Some parents do not treat others the way they want to be treated.  Parents from all over the country talk about this.  I hope I don't ever see it.  Nothing is worse than an adult acting in such a manner that could embarrass their child.  


Remember "The Golden Rule" that was taught in Kindergarten?  Well, I do because I went to a private Christian school then.  Or maybe your mother taught you it?  In Matthew 7:12 it says, "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."


But I see A LOT of good.  More good than bad.


Luckily, from what I have seen at the elementary school level, these kids are kind to one another.  They treat one another the way they want to be treated.  They observe The Golden Rule.  I see brothers carrying their little sister's backpacks, older siblings holding the hands of their younger siblings to keep them safe and within reach.  I see children waiting for friends before crossing the street, parents walking their kids to school and children kissing their moms and dads without caring what their peers think.*


Matthew 18 2-5 (NKJV) it states, Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, ³ and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵ Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.


Young children are some of the most Christlike people I know.  If you didn't know that or have not seen it for yourself, I urge you to go into a Sunday School class and watch the children.  They love completely and selflessly.  Unconditionally.  With their heart, soul and mind.  They love because we (and He) first loved them.  


Hmmmm.  That sounds familiar.  I John 4:19, anyone?


"We love Him because He first loved us."


My girls are always showing me the person I need and want to be by their examples.  By their actions.  By their works.  They make me what to be a better person and I am pretty sure I am.  (Bueller...Bueller?  Bueller??)  ;o)  Knowing their hearts, I know that Christ truly dwells within them. It takes a lot to "ruffle my feathers" these days.  My children have really mellowed me.  And at times I truly do just let the craziness take over and have fun with them rather than clean.  Yes, you read that right.  Sometimes A lot of the time, my house is in shambles but my girls are happy and they know without a shadow of a doubt that they are loved. 


 *Random thought: I guess I have a couple more years before I have to worry about Cinderella being embarrassed by my displays of affection and constant picture taking habits.  :)  I have heard it starts in second grade.  :oP
